Central Heating Manifold Systems

Overview of Central Heating Manifold Systems

Modern homes are being heated by traditional systems but using the same principle as an under floor heating system.  Offering improved comfort levels and a lower leak risk many house builders and heating engineers have turned to this method of heating. Cooler bedrooms, warmer living rooms and in different social areas can be set to the desired temperature bringing better control and better efficiency to any home. Trade professionals prefer this method over traditional copper ring circuit method as the number of connections are greatly reduced and are often only above floor level.
Each manifold port has a sight glass meter that allows the installer to accurately set the flow rate, this removes guesswork that subsequently leads to poor control and inefficiency within a heating system.

Integrating a Heating Manifold is Simple

Heating manifolds operate in the same way as an Underfloor Heating system; Multilayer or PEXa pipes are connected directly to a radiator, trench heater or other heat emitters, these pipes then connect to a heating manifold. Each radiator is piped individually from the manifold.
The boiler connects to the manifold via the primary pipework. Each room has a thermostat installed and there is no requirement for a TRV (Thermostatic Radiator Valve).
When the temperature in a room drops below the required set point the room thermostat calls for heat. The system control opens a specific actuator head on the manifold this then fires up the pump and generates a demand to the heat source.
Warm or hot water from the boiler/heat pump circulates around the specific radiator increasing the room temperature. The system returns to a standby mode once the temperature in the room is at the desired set point.

System Design & Expert Support

The installation method itself is quite straight forward, however calculating the quantities and integrating the mechanical and electrical control is time-consuming and sometimes complex. By assessing each room’s requirement, considering the floor constructions and reviewing the pipe installation practicality we provide a comprehensive central heating package.
The design packs detail pipe runs, balancing details (where we have designed and supplied the radiators), wiring diagrams and plumbing schematics.

To support every customer we offer a commissioning service for all our systems. We can visit the site, test and set up the system, check the system is working correctly with other systems and offer the homeowner advice on the operation. This service can nicely make certain that they system is installed in line with the design, is working efficiency and is being used correctly.
